Objectives of Travel and Toursim

The travel and tourism Diploma program is geared towards students who are interested in hospitality and travel. Upon completion of this program, successful graduates will be able to:

  • Interpret standard industry codes to plan and reserve travel itineraries
  • Sell rail travel, car rental, hotel accommodation, cruises, and pre-packaged tour products
  • Provide good customer service and retain customer loyalty
  • Use the Global Distribution System to make and maintain reservations and issue travel documents
  • Deliver quality customer service and solutions that anticipate, meet, and/or exceed individual expectations.
  • Use marketing conceptions, research, sales strategies, and relationship management skills to promote and sell tourism products, services, and experiences. 
  • Use their understanding of current tourism trends and issues to improve work performance and guide their career development. 
  • Apply discipline-specific practices that contribute to the local and global community through social responsibility, economic commitment, and environmental stewardship. 
  • Identify and implement the supervisory skills and competencies necessary to meet the demands of the ever-growing Travel and Tourism Industry.
