Road construction is a lengthy process that can take more than 10 years, depending on the size of the future pathway. It involves several construction crews and plant machinery and requires careful planning and various evaluations, including environmental and structural assessments.
This certificate in road construction program trains in the art of building roads using various road construction materials and technologies. Under the guidance and supervision of senior officers, road construction craftsmen perform various activities related to construction works.
Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to work safely and competently across a range of work tasks that are carried out regularly within the road building process.

Entry Requirements
The Minimum Entry Requirements are:
- KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain), or;
- Pass in a relevant Artisan course, or;
- An Equivalent qualification approved by KNEC.
The duration for the course is two (2) years which includes a compulsory industrial attachment.
This program is examined by KNEC at the end of the two years training period.
