A motor vehicle mechanic is an artisan skilled in motor vehicle mechnics. Motor vehicle mechanics deal with the testing, servicing and repar of motor vehicles.
A motor vehicle mechanic certificate graduate will be able to:
- Check and test mechanical systems such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems to locate defects and imperfections;
- Identify the cause of the defect or malfunction and verify the diagnosis with the supervisor to determine whether the parts are repairable or should be replaced;
- Repare or replace defective components or components using manual or mechanical tools;
- Testing and adjusting components according to specifications to ensure proper operation;
- Refill a report to record the defects and the work performed.
