Human Resource Management plays an important and strategic role in managing people and the workplace culture and environment. Individuals in this position will deal with issues related to compensation, performance management, as well as organisation development, safety, and wellness.
This Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) course is designed to enhance the competency of human resource (HR) personnel both in the public and private sectors.
The course is broken down into three levels:
CHRP I
This is the entry level into the HR profession which comprises Level 1 and II. It is intended to prepare one for an HR Assistant role. It targets those interested in joining the HR profession but have no HR background or are direct school leavers. Those already working in the HR profession but with no relevant qualifications shall also start at this level.
CHRP II
This part consists of Levels 3 and 4 which provides a transition from CHRP I course to an intermediate body of knowledge and skills required in the HR profession. The course is structured to accommodate candidates who are already in the HR profession with relevant HR qualifications, but need to enhance their HR knowledge and skills.
CHRP III
This part comprises Levels 5 and 6 which provide a progression from CHRP II course to advanced body of HR knowledge and skills. necessary for managing human resources at middle and top levels of HR management. It shall target holders of CHRP II or Higher Diplomas in HRM (KNEC) or Masters Degree holders in Human Resource Management.
Entry Requirements
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Aggregate C+ (Minimum grade of C in English and Mathematics)
- Have equivalent/relevant qualifications subject to approval by the Examinations Board (HRMPEB)
For candidates completing the CHRP Level I, they must undertake a workplace attachment exercise that will be supervised by both the training institution as well as the host organization.
Once candidates are successful in undertaking the two levels, then they qualify to progress to the higher levels of Human Resource Training.
NB: To qualify for CHRP II, one has:-
- To be a holder of CHRP I certificate or
- Diploma/ A bachelor’s degree in HR and related disciplines.
