About Clinical Officers Council examinations body

The Clinical Officers Council (COC) is a body corporate under an Act of Parliament, Act No. 20 of the 2017 Laws of Kenya.

In accordance with this Act, the COC mandate is to regulate the training, registration, licensing, and practice of all Clinical officers.

The Council was first established in 1988 through an Act of parliament Cap 260 Laws of Kenya which was repealed in 2017.

COC works to ensure that clinical officers are trained to address Kenyans’ health needs and deliver high-quality health services. While the training of clinical officers started in 1928 with hospital-based certificate programs, today clinical officers are trained at diploma and degree levels in over 60 institutions across Kenya.

To date, the COC has registered over 25,000 clinical officers.
