About Diploma in Crime Management and Prevention Diploma program.

As a student of Crime Management and Prevention, you will explore the complex questions around why crime happens, how offenders should be dealt with and how crime can be prevented. You will examine the individual, social, legal and political forces that shape both crime and how it is controlled. In addition, you will study the workings of criminal justice agencies like the police, courts, prisons and probation as well as the private companies and voluntary groups who have increasing roles in offender management and crime prevention.

Entry requirements for Diploma in Crime Management and Prevention

The common regulations for the Diploma Programmes in Kenyatta University shall apply.

The general regulations for the Diploma Programmes in the concerned school of humanities shall apply.

The following will be eligible for admission.

  • Any diploma or degree holder from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning.
  • A-Level certificate holder or K.A.C.E. and its equivalent.
  • Minimum grade C (plain) at K.C.S.E. or Division 3 at K.C.E. or its equivalent.
  • Holders of a certificate in Crime Management and Prevention from recognized institutions with relevant work experience.

Diploma in Crime Management and Prevention Course Subjects

The Diploma in Crime Management and Prevention at Kenyatta University is a 4-semester course. In the 1stt, 2nd and 3rd semesters, a student will be required to take six units, four of which must be core and the rest two electives respectively. In the 4th semester the student will take any four units and Research Project writing equivalent to 2 units.
