About Digital Journalism Certificate program.

The Certificate in Digital Journalism course offered at Equip Africa Institute consists of competencies that help individuals develop a critical understanding of digital mediation and the role of journalism in society.

Students will understand and be able to shape conversations about the principles, politics, and technologies that drive the practice of journalism in a rapidly changing media environment. They will also be equipped to incorporate journalistic practices into their scholarly and professional work.

Assessment

The course will be assessed at two levels: internally and externally. Internal assessment is continuous and is conducted by the trainer who is monitored by an internal accredited verifier while external assessment is the responsibility of TVET CDACC.

Certification

On successful completion of all units of learning, a trainee will be awarded a Certificate in Digital Journalism. These certificates will be issued by TVET CDACC in conjunction with Equip Africa Institute.

Entry requirements for Digital Journalism

An individual entering this Digital Journalism course should have any of the following minimum requirements:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E.) with a minimum mean grade of D (plain)
  • Digital Journalism Level 4 Certificate with one year of continuous work experience
  • Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
