About Theology Bachelors Degree program.

The Bachelor of Theology program at Africa Nazarene University seeks to prepare men and women for service in the Church by equipping them intellectually, socially and spiritually.

Although much of the teaching takes place in a classroom setting, contextualization and praxis are inherent in each unit offered.

Opportunities for Christian growth and service are found in extracurricular activities.

In addition to the required internship, all Bachelor of Theology students are molded in ministry assignments throughout their time here at ANU.

The program meets the requirements for the course of study for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene in the Africa Region.

Graduation Requirements:

To be considered for the Bachelor of Theology degree, students must complete at least the following with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 grade scale.

Objectives of Theology

The Bachelor of Theology degree program at Africa Nazarene University aims to lay a biblical and theological background for persons of ministry. Students grow intellectually and spiritually through the outcomes of content, competence, character, and context.

Specific objectives of this Bachelor of Theology degree program are:

1) Describe the central message of the Bible;
2) Identify the major issues that constitute Christian theological thought;
3) Relate the heritage of the Christian faith to contemporary culture;
4) Give evidence of skills development in such areas as thinking, reading, writing, preaching, teaching, counseling, organizing and relating to others;
5) Apply the ethical and moral principles of the Christian faith to contemporary life;
6) Effectively share the Christian faith with others for their salvation, sanctification and growth in Christian maturity;
7) Function effectively in some area of Christian ministry;
8) Live an exemplary Christian lifestyle marked by humility, service and victorious faith.

Entry requirements for Theology

Applicants must meet either of the following minimum entry requirements.

  • Overall Grade of C+ in KCSE and C in Maths
  • 2 principals & a Subsidiary (A’level),
  • 5 credits in IGCSE or equivalent
  • Minimum GPA of 2.3 from Diploma
  • Credit pass at Diploma level

NB:
Exemptions awarded to applicants with a minimum GPA of 2.7.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Passed the KSCE or PUP with a grade B or better in three or more of the following subjects:
    • Bible,
    • Christian Religion,
    • Ethics,
    • Mathematics,
    • Music and Social Education
  • Demonstrated Christian maturity and leadership ability.
