The Bachelor of Education in Religous Studies degree programme at Catholic University of Eastern Africa is designed to train teachers for secondary schools and colleges with a view of forming a young generation that has holistic views of the human person.

Objectives of Bachelor of Education in Religious studeis

The Bachelor of Education in Religious Studies at Catholic University of Eastern Africa aims to:
1. Equip students with knowledge and skills to enabel them to teach religious studies at Secondary and College levels.
2. equip students with principles and tools that will enable them to continue reading and researching on their own, even after graduation.
3. Form students who can articulate the knowledge acquired and be positive participants in mattters of religious and human development.
4. form students with strong religious convictions who will act as consience of the society during and within its transformative process.
5. Prepare students to appreciate the African culture and thus spak from the African phenomenological point of view in evaluating other religious beliefs, systems and values.
6. equip students with skills to enable them to cope with challenging life situations in a religiously, socially, morally and politically changing society.

Entry requirements for Bachelor of Education in Religious studeis

To be accepted for the Bachelors of Education in Religious Studies programme at CUEA, a candidate either requires to be:
A holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with the minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus), with a minimum of grade C in either Christian Religious Education or Hindu Religious Education.
OR
A holder of Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (or equivalent examination) witha minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass.
OR
A holder of a diploma or proffessional certificate in a Education from an institution recognised by the University Senate.
OR
A holder of P1 teacher's certificate or its equivalent and a mean grade of C in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination.

Depending on the prospective students qualifications the Bacheor of Education in Religious Studies at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa can be either a four year programme, three year programme or two year programme.

Four Year Bacheor of Education in Religious Studies programme at CUEA.
In the first year of study at CUEA, students shall take on common courses, four courses in religious studies, four in education and four from another department.
In the second year of study at CUEA, students shall take two common courses, four courses in Religious studies, four in Education and four from another department.
In the third year of study at CUEA, the students shall take four courses in religious studies, five in education and four from another department.
In the fourth year of study at CUEA, the students shall take three courses in religious studies, five in education and three in another department.

Three Year Bacheor of Education in Religious Studies programme at CUEA.
In the first year of study at CUEA, students shall take one common course, four courses in religious studies, four in education and four from another department.
In the second year of study at CUEA, students shall take one common course, four courses in religious studies, five in education and four from another department in each year.
In the third year of study at CUEA, students shall take three courses in religious studies, five courses in education and three from another department.
