Course Overview

Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) is based on the scientific understanding of natural processes, informed by history, culture and social dynamics. 

 Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) is an environment based profession.  As a discipline it is broad in scope developing into the design, planning and management of landscapes and the environment.

Minimum Entry Requirements

A candidate wishing to be admitted to the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (B.Land.Arch.) in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) must:

  • (a)    Satisfy the minimum entrance requirements of the University
  • (b)    Satisfy the department’s entry requirements which are:
  • He/She must have passed K.C.S.E (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) or equivalent examination, and must have subject cluster given below:

The mean grade of the cluster must be at least grade B-.

  • (c)    Satisfy the requirement to be a holder of a Diploma in Architecture from JKUAT or any other Senate recognised and approved Diploma in Architecture programme with at least a credit pass.
  • (d)    Satisfy any other qualifications recognised by the Senate as equivalent to  (b) and (c) above.

Course Objectives

The broad objective of the programme in  Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT ) is to develop a taste for beauty, admiration for the surrounding natural world, appreciation of natural environmental  habitats and at the same time a rejection of selfish oriented consumption attitudes.
