Gretsa University is a university that stands for many great things like academic excellence, commitment to its core values of honesty, integrity, excellence, transparency, accountability, fairness and concern for others.
The institution works on naturing the entrepreneur spirit, which the founder Dr. Samuel Mbugua Kibathi was famous for, and looks forward to producing tomorrows leaders who will be movers and shakers of society.

The world has become a global village so we have chosen to rise up to the occasion spinning out excellent drivers of society. Gretsa University is duly registered and accredited by the Commission for University Education and admitted its pioneer students in September 2006.

What We Believe

In addition to these core values, the University also believes the  following to be crucial to the success of its students and the  university as a whole: High expectations are the starting point for quality.

• Learning is an active, not passive process. Assessment must link process improvement to individual and team results. The learning and working environments must be aligned with the academic goals of the university.
• The curriculum must promote sustained interaction and teamwork among students, faculty and staff. The nurturing, development and empowerment of employees at all levels is critical to a quality working environment.

Gretsa University offers modern, relevant and practical programmes in a friendly atmosphere which offers quality student life free of urban social hassles.

Programmes are offered through flexible modes of study which enable individuals to choose what is best for their circumstances. Each programme involves an element of experiential training and project work which may be in form of research, special study or hands -on practical activity.

Programmes are offered at reasonable fees. Our Degree students qualify to apply for HELB loans. A few scholarships are available for our students.

The aims of the Gretsa university are:

• Offer academic programmes of depth, quality and value that meets the needs of Kenya, eastern Africa region and the world.
• Provide instruction that is learner-centred and holistic challenging students to utilize all levels of cognition, and to develop physically, socially and ethically.
• Provide an enabling environment for generating, storing and disseminating knowledge for the good of society.
• Prepare students to live in an increasingly complex and changing society by helping them develop essential skills, competencies and attitude needed to become lifelong learners.
• Be a leading center of Africa studies in Kenya.
• Serve as an intellectual, education and cultural resource for the surrounding community.

Gretsa University admitted its pioneer students in September 2006 after receiving the Letter of Interim Authority from the Commission for Higher Education in May 2006.

The University began with three pioneer degree programmes in Business, Computer Science and Hospitality Management. These have continued to attract students from various parts of the world.

The second lot of degree students graduated in December 2011. Several diploma and certificate groups have also graduated over the years. In pursuit of its objective of being a professional quality-driven institution, the University has continued to expand its facilities and to develop new and relevant academic programmes that are designed to meet the needs of society.

The University has positioned itself well to play its role and offer its contribution in the world of reputable institutions of higher learning.
